Delivering tomorrow’s connectivity today

A connected experience is important to everyone, both in their professional and personal lives. A high-performance network delivers advanced connectivity required for communications, safety and entertainment while driving prosperity and economic development in cities and townships. Most progressive communities understand this well and sometimes identify unique requirements for their network connectivity. The underlying network, including fiber, becomes imperative to deliver high-bandwidth and high-speed connections. While 4G LTE networks are being deployed everywhere, communities are now preparing for 5G. An expert, innovative and trusted communications partner is often sought by communities to understand their distinct needs, provide the network vision and deliver the network of the future!

Addressing Your Needs and Enabling Choice

Extenet adopts a custom approach, to the greatest extent possible, to accommodate unique requirements. Our experience with 350+ outdoor mobility and fiber networks has given us the opportunity to work with many communities and townships, each with distinct needs. We differentiate ourselves by:

  • Ensuring our employees are highly trained and adhere to local codes and guidelines
  • Appropriately using the public right-of-way (ROW) infrastructure to build our networks
  • Collaborating with city planners and officials to identify the best possible site locations
  • Ensuring that community aesthetic requirements are balanced with deployment necessities
  • Promoting choice of network operators with our neutral-host approach

While we are known for our collaborative approach and technical expertise, we are network partners first. Our local regulation knowledge and consultative-partner approach go a long way toward addressing community and township needs. Enabling technologies such as fiber, small cells and DAS are used extensively by our experienced team in the best possible manner to deliver a community’s connected experience.

Community Benefits

Extenet advances connectivity in communities and townships with a safe and reliable network everywhere. The benefits of mobile broadband connectivity, via 4G LTE and 5G networks, include economic development and prosperity.

Delivering Tomorrow’s Connectivity Today in Cities & Communities

Ensuring people have service provider choices to ensure maximum coverage becomes important for communities as public safety grows in importance. With more than 80% of all E911 calls being made from wireless devices today, reliable connectivity becomes essential to ensure people can reach first responders at any time and from anywhere. Starting with the township of Franklin-Bloomfield (Michigan) in 2005, Extenet has delivered hundreds of distributed networks (DNS) that deliver mobile connectivity to communities today.

Smart Cities

Extenet provides communications infrastructure in Cities and Townships with a strategic vision to enable a Connected Society. Being a leader in Fiber and Mobility solutions, ExteNet delivers fast, reliable and high-bandwidth connectivity for the Internet of Things (IoT).

Delivering Tomorrow’s Connectivity Today with 5G and IoT

Delivering a smart connected city needs strategic vision. Extenet addresses smart city design and architecture with a solution-focused approach. Our belief is that four strategic areas, including communication, public safety, energy and transportation sectors, remain keys to success when delivering a comprehensive smart city with interconnectivity of devices and people as the end goal. An integrated communications network becomes integral to everything because it delivers the all-important mobile and wireless broadband connectivity. Network resiliency, latency, bandwidth and speed are critical to ensure that all devices—including network and end-user touch points—are appropriately connected. Extenet works diligently to address this in a systematic manner that centers on the ongoing wave of the Internet of Everything (IoT).

Your Connected City Mission, Our Advanced Connectivity Promise

Our customers benefit from our long-term network vision. We are leaders in small cells and DAS to enable 4G LTE and 5G networks. 5G is the catalyst for massive end-to-end interconnectivity, and we are experts in delivering advanced mobile and broadband connectivity. Our promise to cities and townships includes:

  • Future-looking network vision
  • Pragmatic and cost-effective communication solutions
  • Consultative approach with expertise in converged network solutions
  • Single point of contact for all connectivity and communications infrastructure needs
We have learned that when designing smart cities, it’s important to look at point solutions as a building block toward achieving the network vision. For instance, while there are many requirements today for LED lighting, the latter exemplifies a point solution. Smart poles would be the strategic alternative, from our point of view, to extend capabilities further and enable IoT applications in transportation and public safety. Our approach is always to be a trusted advisor for our customers and partner with them to achieve their goals. Federal & Local Government

Extenet works with federal and local government entities to deliver world-class communications infrastructure in cities, townships and communities. We focus on leveraging shared infrastructure to the maximize benefits of advanced mobile and broadband connectivity.

Extenet Delivers Tomorrow’s Connectivity Today in Towns and Communities

The Telecom Act of 1996 acknowledged the need for a competitive, high-speed communications highway across America. It focused on the need for shared infrastructure as an ideal way to achieve a healthy and sustainable competitive environment while delivering the benefits of ubiquitous communications and connectivity. Since then, America has focused on building networks geared to complement each other and deliver advanced voice and data communication services using a mesh of fiber and wireless communications infrastructure. Extenet understands the need for shared infrastructure to deliver best-in-class connectivity nationwide and to bridge the Digital Divide. Our neutral-host model shares network infrastructure and promotes economic development and prosperity. Extenet designs, builds and operates the communications infrastructure—including fiber and wireless—to transport the Mobile Network Operator’s (MNO’s) voice, data and video traffic. Extenet holds a certificate of public convenience and necessity (CPCN), or similar grants of authority, issued by various state regulators. This qualifies Extenet to work with local and state authorities, public utility companies and others to install fiber and deploy its small cell and DAS networks in the public right of way (ROW), subject to local requirements and limitations.

Regulatory Expertise, Adherence to Codes and Guidelines

Extenet’s Community Relations team comprises former municipal planners and experienced ROW experts. Our goal is to partner with communities to enable community-friendly mobile and broadband connectivity solutions. Our team specializes in balancing community permitting requirements with state and local authorities and federal telecommunications regulations to meet scheduling commitments.

The team’s negotiation and permitting skills, planning backgrounds, partnering mindset and extensive telecommunications experience enable it to move effectively through any municipality’s processes, including:
  • ROW and municipal agreements and approvals
  • Fiber and node attachment permits
  • Utility and telecom infrastructure access and attachment agreements
