AT&T Stadium

Extenet manages the highly dense fiber backbone that supports communication infrastructure throughout AT&T Stadium that provides an unparalleled experience for fans.

Upgrading the Largest 5G Stadium Network to Give Fans a Superior Mobile Experience

AT&T Stadium, also known as the Death Star for its massive size, can be seen from over five miles away from downtown Dallas or Fort Worth. The stadium, which opened in 2009, is home to the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys and is one of the largest stadiums in the world. With a seating capacity of 100,000-plus, the stadium is in the top ten by capacity worldwide. Outside of the regularly scheduled NFL games for the Cowboys, AT&T Stadium hosts thirty other high-capacity events, including massive sellout events such as concerts by George Strait, the Rolling Stones and Taylor Swift, record-breaking NBA All-Star games, and the highest-attended boxing match between Manny Pacquiao and Joshua Clottey, just to name a few.

  • Over 3 million square feet of space
  • Largest 5G stadium DAS Network
  • 100,000+ seating capacity
  • 30 marquee events annually in addition to the NFL games

Recently, Extenet, along with AT&T and CommScope, performed a massive upgrade to the 5G network. Completed in just sixteen weeks, the upgrades included a brand new high-capacity fiber network and 5G network densification for mid-band spectrum. 5G network upgrades include:

  • 670 sectors
  • 850 nodes
  • 2,345 antennas
  • 33+ miles of fiber
  • Supports direct MNO fiber connection; no local BTS
  • 20 masting antennas

Alongside the mobility network upgrades, AT&T Stadium worked to significantly enhance the fan experiences, both inside the stadium and at home for fans. These experiences include augmented reality (AR) immersive “Pose with the Pros”—where fans can take a photo or GIF of themselves with their favorite Cowboys players; or the StARview, which helps fans view live gameday stats from their smartphones. AT&T has also enhanced the at-home viewing experience by allowing fans to film themselves cheering on the Cowboys, which is broadcast on AT&T Stadium’s LiveFX board during home games!

Extenet has been the network provider at the marquee venue for many years. We are responsible for the design, build and operations of the high-capacity fiber backbone within the stadium, Distributed Antenna System (DAS) and telecommunication head-end space.
